Fundraiser Ideas

I'm wanting to do a fundraiser for my fire dept. And they won't know about it. I'm Lt. Safety Officer and I try to do a lot of training, but all of the material is only on the internet now, no more dvds. So I want to get a wireless projector for the dept, and donate it. We have wifi, and a laptop. We are very small dept, not a lot of income, and the board said this is not something we "really need", but we really do. Anybody got any ideas?

Our local department does a big cook out pretty often, word of mouth around here is a big deal and a lot of people go.

Contact Joe Jolly 704-827-3774. He has a company called EPSI (Emergency Personnel Services Inc). They do fund raising events for fire/rescue. Cost nothing to ask and he's just a old redneck business man. Been around for 20+ years.

We recently purchased a projector for our department, and I can attest, they are very useful for training videos and powerpoints.

Our department relies on fundraisers as well, we do bbq pork shoulders and turkey sales at Thanksgiving and Christmas, those are our two largest fundraisers, we also do a bbq chicken and pork shoulder luncheon and dinner during the summer, a pot luck luncheon, and a couple breakfasts during the year. They have always been very successful.

I applaud you for trying to raise it on your own for the department, but I suggest you come up with suitable fundraiser ideas with the board to raise the money.

it's not that they don't support it. We have some fundraiser's scheduled but they are for some bigger things we need. This is just something I want to do. I don't live in Elkin, 10 minutes outside. My address is elkin. We have the smallest disctrict in surry county and maybe the state. Our community is very small, mostly elderly, but we do a lot of mutual aid with other depts. I was going to raise the money, and "donate" it to the dept.

I will give him a call though, thanks

We are a volunteer station

he man, I'm down here in Yadkin with a part time gun business. I just did a raffle for the K-9 program at Sheriff's Office for a Ar-15 lower. After the cost of tickets and whole sale cost of lower I cleared around $350. That was 100 tickets @ $5 each sold in 2 weeks. You could do 200 and put the drawing date out several months and do good. Happy to help its free advertising for me and helps you out.

Cool thanks buddy

5 for 5. I always wanted to try this. Everybody just asks for 5 bucks from 5 people. If you have 30 people do it you'll raise $750. No selling nothing. Just asking for a few bucks.

Or go to the big intersection and start pan handling. You keep everything not cash!

Edit: Didn't see the covert part of this. My idea will not work. Your going to have a hard time doing this on the quite and them not know about it.

Just to help you scope the costs - can you clarify what you are thinking you need?
Why wireless projector? If you have a laptop, whats wrong w/ a good old fashioned plug-in-VGA/DVI deal?

Not that I'm saying you don't need it - rather there are a lot of tech savvy guys here, perhaps there is a more cost-efficient solution.

Good luck. I like the 5 for 5 thing. I'd quickly hand over $5 for a local FD if asked. Hell send me a PP address and I'll send it now.

We don't have to have a wireless, just be nice. I get pissed cause they "our board" never wants to do anything that makes money.

Lol wth!
