I've got my 86 taco going in Friday for a 4'' suspension lift and install down at Galloway's. I've always heard good things about their work. Is 1200 a good price for purchase and install of a 4'' tuff country or can I get equal service and a better price elsewhere in the piedmont? :poop:

Sounds high, but I always do my own work. There's other shops much closer to you than them.

I've just always heard that you never know what mood anyone down there is going to be in and what you might pay based on that.

x2...the work they do is decent...but I prefer other shops, but seems like the price sways sometimes. An example about tires...my dad called and talked to Lester one day about a set of used Boggers they had...I called the next day about the same set, and they were $200 cheaper. Same type of scenario, I called there to get a used set of SSR's...they gave me a price, my dad went down to pick them up, and in the 30 min drive, they magically got $150 cheaper. So I dunno how they determine their pricing, but it does seem to fluctuate...and tends to be cheaper if you have CASH in hand (can easily avoid the books) when you go to pay.

On Edit...there's a place called Ace's in Rockwell (just outside Salisbury)...it's a real small place, but the old guy loooooves working on big trucks. He can do anything Galloway's can, but is usually no more than 80% the price that Gways quotes.

you are in Mooresville and going to gways for work?

There are at leas 3 shops in your back yard....

I would look at the Vendor Specials area, lots of good and LOCAL vendors on here. Some of them do installs as well (and lots of guys on here that are slow at their work right now / will do installs on the side for good rates too!!)

IDK, Galloways has always been big Supporters of us over at Uwharrie Adventures, I got nothin but good things to say about them, got a sweet deal on a trade with Lester for some wheels a while back too. Chris usually cleans up the competition in the Unlimited Class at our Mud races with that Sick flat track type Buggy they have :driver:

Yeah, I have no bad words to say about the Galloways either. They have always done me right on tires. They are all good people. Dont know much about their wrenching prices, but Darryl runs a good shop. If ya think about it...im sure every shop has had it's happy customers and unhappy customers. Just go where you feel comfortable.
