whatever you do make the ceiling and doors in the garage taller than you think you need

728 sq feet is small but has the same size garage? Typical houses are build for about $110 to $135 sq/ft depending on your options. Building up is cheaper than building out. If you do the work yourself, or a lot of it, I think you could get out for less than $15,000, especially if you keep the upgrades to a minimum

Build it where when you do get married, you can still build a house on the land. You will have a really nice doghouse then.

Cool, I'd like to build one of these sometime too.
Thanks for linking, I was going to, but didn't want to have to look it up.

Building the structure itself for $15k might just be doable, but making it liveable will probably run you higher than that. Also, if you have to have a well and septic system, go ahead and plan on another $6-8k.

Not a chance. :flipoff2: Pretty cool though. My dream home is a metal building with a two story apt at one end. Pretty sure this is dependent on whether or not I'm married at the time.

Xs2
