Gas caddy or tank

I've found myself wanting/needing a way to more easily get gas for some of my stuff. For example, my camper holds 60 gallons of gas and we've been using the generator frequently lately, my 4wheelers, the meth tracker, and the mower.

Previously I would just use gas cans for the mower and 4wheelers, but it takes a lot of trips to fill up the camper and we have it set up for staying in and don't really want to pack it up frequently just to get gas, and we're burning tanks regularly out of the 4wheelers.

I saw some 30 gallon gas caddies on Amazon and a few 14 gallon ones at northern, tsc, and Amazon, but all of them have mixed reviews on quality.

Anyone have any experience with any of the gas caddies or have any good ideas to help solve my first world problem.

In bed transfer tank for your truck? Maybe find a 2 compartment one so you can have gas and diesel for the equipment. I have the same problem, but I don't use enough gas to worry about that part. The diesel tractors and chipper require a decent supply, but not enough to mount and source a pump for the transfer tank I bought. I generally just fill them up every time they are on the trailer, which is frequent enough unless I'm doing a big project at the house.

Only issue with those gas caddies is they need to be higher than what you’re filling. Most are gravity fed unless you drop the coin for an electric pump. A full gas caddy can be stout. I’ve debated as well for filling up my water toys. I’m still using 5 gallon cans at the moment. Get a racing can and you won’t have to worry about the Obama safety crap cans

I have a 100 gallon tank with a pump that I use for diesel. If we ever reach an agreement with Duke energy and get power ran, my gas consumption will reduce to an aggravating level vs the current painful level we are at with the generator consumption.

I have some of the rural king cans that empty fast and they work well on the 4wheelers and mower, but the amount of cans and the multiple trips it takes on the camper are a real pain. The camper filler neck is just like a car and is hard to dispense into with a can.

The caddies I saw on Amazon gave a hand pump on them, although I would honestly prefer to elevate the caddy and let gravity do all the work for me.

We picked up a 35 gallon from Amazon several years ago for the exact same reasons. So far, Joe's only complaint is that the nozzle is too big for standard unleaded gas restrictors. But it's perfect for the camper, mower, & dirt bikes.

I combed through our order history & found the link - this particular ones is no longer available but I'm sure there's a ton of similar ones available (and probably much better) https://a.co/d/bMvXIdm

I have the same ones, and the cans are fine, but the hose plastic has become too stiff and it either is aimed wrong or pinched off. Theres no flexibilityand they dont hold their roundness when bent. They are probably 5 years old. Did I get a bad batch?

The hoses on mine don't like being deflected very much or they pinch also, but I kinda like the rigidity because I put the tip where I want it and don't have to keep my hand on the hose

I grabbed a 3/4" pex male adapter, qtr turn ball valve and 3/4" pex bend support out of the van one day after the final straw from the RK race jug filler...works pretty damn well. But also, bought an old steel semi tank at an auction a year or two ago with channel fork pockets welded to the bottom, diesel goes in transfer tank ethanol free goes in the semi tank just gravity feed with a transfer tank hose out.

So the RK hose matches up with 3/4 pex stuff?

You didn't get a bad batch, I've got 3 or 4 purchased over a couple of years and they all are like that.

BTW, if I ever win the lottery I wont tell anyone but there will be signs.....

Get a fuel mule

was it NPS or ORB on the adapter?

Best thing I have done is get a transfer tank for diesel for my tractor and mower fuel. 45 gallons. Put it on skids so I can set it in the truck to go refill. Better than filling, lifting and pouring 5 gallon cans.

@YotaOnRocks I have an aluminum tank that might work for you. 25 or 30 gallon. I'll get a pic this afternoon. Just has a small fuel-line sized outlet, you could plumb straight to your generator, but I used a cheap 12v fuel pump to fill the mower, etc.
