Last year I finished remodeling my house and didn’t have a fireplace/ gas logs put in. I had the “void” where they would be in the future dry walled over.

I’m ready to go for it but am having trouble finding much information. Where is the best place to shop, and does anybody have any recommendations of somebody to install them? There are only a couple of high end showrooms here in the Raleigh area. I’m kind of at a loss on where to even begin with this project.

We put in a Heat&Glo. https://www.heatnglo.com/fireplaces/gas

Forget if it was the 6000 or 8000 series. Logs/flame/light looked more realistic than others we looked at when we were shopping.

We got ours from a local fireplace shop in Sanford....they are now out of business. We did hit a couple of the showrooms in Raleigh. They were at least 1.5-2x the installed price for the same models.

Check with your local propane dealers. The guy that put my LP tank and stuff in said they did fireplaces too, and could get most anything.

The dealers push to sell the mantel/surround as part of the package, but you don't have to buy it from them. I just had the fireplace guy do the stone surround pieces, and my trim guy did the mantel. Much cheaper than their mantel prices, and better matched my other woodwork.

Be sure and get a direct vent, and one that has a circulating fan/blower to get the heat into the room. Also see what happens if the power goes out. On ours, we have to stick in a couple (four?) AA batteries to receive the remote signal, open the solenoid valve, and fire the igniter. No fan/blower with power outage. (Except we put in an auto-start generator, so a moot point for us.)

Any local propane place should sell and install them. PSNC use to sell and install but got bought out and they no longer do it.
