Gas monkey jeep

I thought the jeep was cool, for what it was. A one day, bolt on jeep.

I enjoy the characters on the show and Counting Cars, but all these types of "reality" shows seem to get worse w time trying to find new or made up plots/drama.

I think the bearded guy has talent but the loud guy Richard is stupid. They don't do anything special compared to anybody else they just have a TV show. Its like the shows that used to be on spike, they never did anything very innovative just used the newest latest parts from summit catalog. But that's how the show makes money I know ian from xtreme 4x4 is pretty cool from the one time I met him but his show sucks for the most part.

if these shows suck so much then why do you watch them? as far as the jeep goes i don't care for it myself but a lot of folks on this site have jeeps that are not custom built but are full of catalog parts. i am not going to talk bad about them or there jeeps.

I watch extreme4x4 to see some of the events and he does have some good tech and how to but I don't like how its sometimes a big commercial. I know that's how they make the money to stay on TV though

Wow... looks like something you see in just about every high school parking lot across America. Doesn't get much more hardcore than a set of BFG All Terrains.

That's kinda condescending, you don't have to be "hardcore" to enjoy 4 wheeling. I myself have wheeled for decades w several types of ATs, mudders and SSrs. Lots of peeps wheel daily drivers and BFG ATs are great, long lasting street/offroad tires for peeps that don't need or want super agressive offroad tires that don't last long at all when driven on the street. Peeps who drive on the beach all summer long like bald AT tires that shine on the sand and most ATs are decent offroad but require some skill and common sense to know what they will and will not do.

I used to watch that one but there hasn't been a new episode in weeks. I know what you mean about it being one giant commercial too.

I lost interest when they brought in the "hot model" with a bad case of meth mouth....

I think they only film 3 episodes and then repeat them for the next 3 years... must be a gravy job

Just like Trucks and Horsepower TV, I imagine the sponsors created these shows to help sell their products but I hate the way they make corny comments about the costs of all the bolt-ons they use on any given show like they're all great deals.

I'd like to see a show of hands of who would turn down $10K to slap a lift, some tires and wheels, a new top, and a handfull of goofy accessories on a TJ. If was done in a day and they put $6K in parts and labor on it, $4K for a days pay is a no brainer.

Come on, show 'em.

Even the guys on the show said this was a nothing build. Nothing interesting, nothing challenging. Only problem with the episode is it didn't really warrant a full episode. Should have been a secondary story or even just an honorable mention for displaying some Twin Peaks girls.

He has to do something that he can actually make some scratch on to make up for a lot of the cars that he loses his shirt on. I've never understood the idea of "car-flipping". There just doesn't seem to be the money in it unless you find "the right car" and "the right buyer". But just going to an auction, putting a ton of money, work and time into a car and taking it to another auction in hopes that you will pull a profit seems like a bad business model. But I guess if you have enough cameras in your face you can make even a dumb decision seem like a brilliant idea.

There was one episode in particular where he took a hot rod with an old out of date paint job and tried to go after the "rat rod" look by spending a TON of money on a matte black paint job (somewhere to the tune of $5000 on paint) only to sell the car for less than he paid for it. Rat rods have become popular, but they are typically scratch built from what you have and just look like unfinished hot rods - not the other way around where you take a finished hot rod and make it look like an unfinished rat rod.

Those guys are hacks. Any body see the one where the built the old Lincoln? It was black with a set of 22's or something, you could only turn the wheel about half way and the tires were into the fenders.

I have that same model lincoln.
While I would have stayed with a smaller wheel to keep from having to widen the factory flares, the 20x8 front and 20x10 rear wheels on mine don't rub even dropped 3". Their was bagged. It turned fine at ride height, not when parked.

If you want to watch good car show then watch MAV TV the owner of the station is Lucas oil and they show stuff like Gears, and other shows. I spoke to the actual programming rep and was told if their are enough interest they would televise some of the rock crawling events like KOH and others. So we can watch real shows not BS rich guys trying to act like idiots with no talent.
