gas saver car ??

What about the non diesel VWs. Anybody have any experience with them?

X2 on the Saturn's! We had a 04 Ion and spent nothing on it! 09 vue and we love it also, chose these because we can flatow them behind camper with no mods. Great cars that are overlooked by most.

I personally don't like saturns, it just felt wierd to drive. Anyways 90-93 Accords are pretty good, I had one, driven right you could get 28-35. Others have gotten up to 40 but thats manuals and I the first post. From my exp. there simple to work on, only main problem is the idle air control valve, but maintained they last forever.

I personally like 94 and up Acura Integras. They all come with the 1.8 dohc engine which has way more power and torque than the 1.5 or 1.6 sohc in the civics. They can be picked up on the cheap especially auto and are Hondas so they are easy to work on and run forever.

Nissan Sentra. B15 chassis SE's had the SR20DE with roller rockers. I think it was like '99 to '01 they were made. Look for the 2.0 cars. Good motor that was in production forever, and the rest of the car is pretty solid as well. Air bags, crumple zones, good brakes and pretty handy at avoidance maneuvers, just what you'd like for you kids. Also not as popular as Toyotas and Hondas so they don't have that premium in the price department.

Oh yeah... Mazda Protege would make a nice car for the kids too.. The earlier ones that had the wagon and MPS/MP3 treatment. Good looking cars too.
