I agree w/ this to a point...actually a lot.
BUT, swapping the F-350 to 4wd will cost (rough, out-of-the-butt-hence-the-smell estimate) 3-5K. My father just bought well-used, but functional (just took it to Cape Lookout w/ a slide-in) F-350 crew short 4x4 for just north of that.
The proceeds from the sale w/cover 75-100% of the "new" truck & bought w/ cash (I hate checks, as much as I hate payments)
Plus, the big ol' bitch will not fit in my shop & leave any working room.
I have zero sentimental attachment for this truck - I had more for the '78 I gave away.
As tempting as it would be to swap the axle/trans/t'case/shafts, etc, I'm going to try & sell/replace first.
My '70 Suburban (that will probably cart me to my final resting place, just like it brought me home from the hospital all those years ago) deserves a royal 4wd swap - 1-tons & all (think oversized mall crawler - minus the Cock Star wheels & ass-drop stance)
