Gas tank dimple mod

ok heres the deal im building my yj and at a crossroads with the rear end, to stretch or not to stretch . im trying to do this on a budget so no genright tanks and i need my rear seat for my son. saw this mod on a few forums about cutting the gas tank skid and heating the plastic tank and pressing it into the skid to give room for the rear axle when stretching. has anyone done this and what results have you had. if its a bad idea ill just keep my 1 inch stretch on my perch for now.

This is new to me! But I'd be wary of heating any gas tank, & would worry more about a deformed plastic tank, cracking & leaking.

So let me get this right-You wanna take the already leak prone/2 pieces of plastic welded together (there is a seam around the middle) tank, and apply a little heat and "force" it to reshape itself ?

I have seen this done with good results but the end result was a 3 inch stretch...Not worth it in IMO

Well I have never heard of wrangler tanks being prone to leaks . But hey if it works and apparently it has for many others then yes . I was asking If any members on here have had any success with it .
