so i finally installed my pyro and boost gauge into an A pillar mount, which was probably one of the most frustrating things i have done on my truck yet and would have rather paid someone to do it. Anyway, after breaking about half of the plastic clips on my dash pulling it apart and trying to run and fish wires in and out from behind the dash and through the firewall it was finally assembled... until the little plastic things that are supposed to hold the gauge pod to the A pillar all pulled out, now im not really sure how its still holding on to the A pillar but it sure as hell doesn't look tight. So after dealing with all of that I finally started the truck only to find that my boost gauge doesn't read. everything is run properly, the tubing isn't binding up anywhere and it is all properly connecting according to this:

. I pulled the pressure hose off the motor thinking it was clogged and ran some wire through it, nothing. I then started my truck and put my finger over the hose and could barely feel anything blowing but that was at idle and im not sure how much I should feel. What else should I look for?

Oh, its a '97 F-250 5 speed if that makes a difference

I dont know much about the powerchokes, like if it will throw a code for no boost or bad sensor. You won't feel any boost at idle though, it needs to be under load. Does the truck seem to run alright? You should be able to hear a boost leak while driving, and would notice a lack of performance.
This is a mechanical gauge with the tubing all the way to the back of the gauge, no sender unit/isolator?

take the end off of the manifold side and hook a vacuum pump/guage to it, see if it holds vacuum you probably have a leak, you kind of need it tight to really crimp it at the guage side to seal it, maybe just not tight enough.

boost guage

have you driven the truck since your install, or just start it up and rev the motor a couple times, only to find the boost guage didnt work. same thing on mine, tached it up some, and nothing, but as soon as i put a load on it, it started climbing, quickly!!

the minute my 7.3 eats is... yeaa.
it must be a leak, i can get it to read close to 15psi at around 3000 rpm, im going to check it first chance i get. hopefully tomorrow

You probably won't see much more than 15 PSI, my 99' would get to around 17-18 stock when pulling a load (or REALLY doggin' it). For a 97' 15 PSI might be all it will get, I wouldn't be worried with that...

If you have any computer mods done to the truck it most likely should get higher than 15. I got my computer tuned for +60 HP and now it will get to 24 PSI pretty easy.

yea i havent really turned up my chip yet with the guages in, ive got +80 econ, +80 tow, and +140 extreme on a DP Tuner... i guess ill just have to pump up the juice a little today to play with it. darn

On the fords you will rarely see anything over 29# if so then it will not be long before problems will start to ocur. Most of the fords turned up will run somewhere around 24-26# on the high sides.
