does anyone know if I take the cluster out of my 87 toyota will it affect the computer?I wasent shore if the computer must see it conected.I am building a dash and wanted to use autometer gauges but dident know if any one else has done this,I drive it every day and I dont want to have a lot of computer problems. Thanks for the help

You should be fine. We were working on Papa Jon's 85 EFI 4Runner the other day and it ran without the gauge cluster.

do u know if there is a closed loop circuit with compter?Im worede about the com.not seeing what it needs and maybe keeping timeing back,I gues if i leave the oem sensors it would still read them.?

As far as I know there are seperate sending units for the gauges and the ecu. Hopefully someone with a little more Toyota experience will chime in.

dash cluster has no effect on engine functions, temp sensor for EFI is seperate from the dash cluster sensor ( EFI sensor is in the front of intake, gauge sending unit is middle top between clys 2 nad 3 )

VSS if there is one would be used only for cruise control, which I highly doubt works now even if you had it ( most have puked by this time )

As far as " Closed loop" yes, there is a open and closed loop fuel management, which is typical for EFI, you WILL need the O2 sensor for it to run porperly, as well as knock sensor and the 2 sensors in the front of the intake.

IF you are not running EFI, well, then, game on !!

you will be fine
