Hey guys, I’ve got a 2002 Toyota Tacoma I’m wanting to do a 3” lift on and some 265/75/16’s. I’d like to re-gear when I do all that as the truck seems sluggish even on factory 235’s. It’s a 2.7 4 cylinder with 5 speed transmission. What would be the ideal gear to go with on 265’s? 4.88? I daily drive the truck mostly around town. Where’s a good place to buy the gears from? I was thinking ECGS and i’ll need a shop around Hickory, NC area to install them. Thanks for the help y’all!

265's would likely fit as is. They're not much larger than a 31", and I was running those on my stock 96 Tacoma before I lifted it. I would recommend finding out what you currently have in your differentials, as you may already have 4.30 or 4.56 gears. Here's a page to help: LC ENGINEERING Differential Tech

I went 4.88's in my truck, and it's overkill with the V6. I scream going down the interstate, even with 285/70/17's.
