being that I am not quite as good as @Jody Treadway, well quite is really stretching it, let’s go with damn rookie. Thoughts on this pattern. Backlash is at .004. Thanks

Can't read the drive side all that well. But, I'd have no issue running that one myself.
It is still a little deep, but not enough for me to lose sleep over.

Thanks for the input on this. I had to head to lake yesterday afternoon to prepare the camper for the flooding that is occurring. I am going to tweak it some more this evening.

I wouldn't change it much. Maybe 3 thou shallower. That's about all I would do.
Personally, I'd run it as is, especially if it was my own. It's not perfect, but it'll be just fine.

Ok, here is the latest, backlash is at .006. The other pattern did not have a load on it this one did.

Run that every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Fine work dude!
Thanks Jody! I owe you a few beers if we ever run into on another! I still have the rear to do...so it may be a 12 pack of your favorite brew! lol

If you are going through this much trouble to do something, may as well take the time to do it right, or to the best of your abilities. I knew I could do better. Some times it cost me extra time and not really nessecary, but just the way my mind works.

As long as it didnt take you my standard 8 hours to get a decent pattern you did well.

Lol, not that long. Have a total of about 2 1/2 hours in this one. Had to figure out the stupid indicator switch which took me about 30 minutes of research. The switch has to be held open while you install the carrier. 3 hands would have been awesome. Also the bearings on the new D44 are different than the old style, so my set up bearings I had would not work. Rear will hopefully go a little easier.

That third hand is key. I always thought if humans had been meant to setup gear sets, then we would have tails.
Tails with a hand that knows more than I do about setting a gear pattern......

I see you have Motive gears. Start with 0.052" on the rear pinion depth. That should get you really close initially

The rear @Jody Treadway
Pinion depth at .52
Backlash is .008
Let me know if I should change some if you would. Thanks !!

It's a hair deep. You can tell by the straight line at the base of the tooth. Would it be fine? Yeah. The coast side looks pretty good but the drive side is a little bit deep.
But knowing you, you'll want to dial it in a bit. If it were me, I'd take out 3 thousandths. Much more and you'll sacrifice the coast side pattern. You don't want it sliding off the tooth.
Nice work

Yea, that is what I thought too. I was in process of tearing down when you sent message. I like this better.

How did the test drive go? I saw it parked outside the garage tonight. Wanted to hollar at ya but it was late.
