Ball park which may not be good enough; jack it up and turn the tire one rotation and see how many times the drive shaft turns. Just mark both with tape. Mine is a 5.29, the drive shaft did 5 complete turns and a partial.

I did that the drive shaft truned one full trun
What's your set up, do you have locking hubs, were both front tires off the ground, etc ?

Might also help us narrow it down to know what your working on. Also check your rear axle for the tag, front and rear are the same ratio.

Leave one tire on the ground if you have an open diff. Rotate one tire 2 times and count the driveshaft rotations. That will take into account the spider gears maing a rotation as well.

Lets start with a really stupid question.
What year/kind of vehicle is this? What are the known modifications?

One option is to disconnect the driveshaft from the differential... front or rear... and look for paint on the pinion flange bolt. The color will tell you (us) the gear ratio.

speaking of rear axle, does it have a tag? If it is your 02 TJ and it is stock, depending on tranny, I would guess 3.55 or 3.73
