gear ratio????

isnt there a way to figure out what gears you have in
an axle by counting tire and driveshaft rotation?

should be able to tell by where the car is tacking at what speed. I am not sure where it needs to be for what gears though...

its a 95 wrangler with the 2.5 and running 35's
the guy i bought it from say's 410's
but i also have a stock 91 wrangler w 410's
and a 2.5 and the 95 seems to do just as well
and the diff covers have obviously been off the
axle's.im just trying to avoid taking one of them off
to figure it out but i dont think they are 410's.........and more

taking the cover off the dif is no big deal. and if you bought it with 35s on it you might want to. Check and make sure your fluid was clean and all. but you can count the axle to driveshaft rotations and that will give you your ball park

If it is a stock 2.5 with a 5 speed, 99.9% chance it is 4.10 If it is an AT could be a 3.73. Why not just look at the tags on the diff covers if they are still there. If not, pull the cover.

Example:

4 rotations of the drive shaft and one rotation of the tire is a 4 to 1 ratio. So 4.10 gears

3 drive shaft rotations and 3/4 tire rotation is a 3 to .75 ratio. So ~3.75 ratio

It really just a close estimation
