Gear setup marking paint in a pinch

I need to set up some 14b gears this afternoon and I don't have any marking compound around.

What is a good substitute to use in a pinch?

Antiseize works well. I've herd of people using lip stick before.

Grease works. Little harder to read than marking compound. Fwiw, I believe Advance carries Prussian blue marking compound.

I used some lipstick that apparently wasn't the right color lol.

Worked well for marking paint lol, but everyone at the store was looking at me funny.

My wife would rather me waste lipstick than mustard lol. True story.

I thought of that after I looked at the knife blade after I tried wiping the peanut butter off of it. Damn shit is always smeared on like glue.

I've used white lithium grease. Not as clear as marking compound but gets the job done.

I believe Advance carries Prussian blue marking compound.

That stuff is worse then anti seize. You just look at it and it will get all over you.
