I've got a set of 4.27 gears for my D44. The question is are they THICK gears or not? The #'s on the ring gear are 18450, and m8r7. The Teeth count is 47-11. Can someone tell me if they are regular or thick gears?

Are they new or used? It is unlikely that they are thick gears. Most 4.27's are course spline pinion gears for/from older Jeeps.

The only real difference that I've run across with Dana 44 is the separation in carriers depending on ratio. I believe it was 3.73 and below. Other than the high pinion ford a dana 44 is a dana 44. If you need help with the regear, send me a message, I've quite a few.

With the advent of the Jeep Rubicon there are now "thick" gears (lower gears that will work on a high ratio case) for the Dana 44 where as befor their were none. This is be cause the factory air locker first used in Rubicons was a high ratio case (3.73 and lower numericaly) but had 4.11 gears. The after market soon followed suit with other ratios that would fit ther rubicon carriers in effect creating "thick" gears for all other low pinion Dana 44's. I do not think 4.27's are offered in thick gears though.
