Every jump the good ol' boys made in the General Lee during the first six seasons of The Dukes of Hazzard, compiled into one glorious video.

Based on this video, there was more tore up bridges, random ramps, stacked up shit, small steep hills, assorted car haulers per capita in Hazzard than anywhere else in the world.

Nice!

Back before computer animation, when they did shit for real! Only one or two of those jumps were smooth landings. I bet the stunt driver was constantly bruised and beat up!!!

Two toughest vehicles of all time? General Lee and Fall Guy's GMC! I think anybody that grew up watching both those shows wanted them. I know I did/do!

We were watching Snappy's Fall Guy boxed set on the way back from Auburn last weekend. Man, that show had a lot of Cameo appearances in it! When I was in High School, that was THE show!

I liked it at the end where it says, "Every single Dodge Charger was harmed in the making of this video."

Seriously, how many Chargers did they go through? I wouldn't want to make a car that I cared about do even one of those jumps.

I once lived next to the original Hazard County Jail in Conyers Ga. A good friend is an orphin in the first episode.

I loved that show growing up, but try to watch it now and I can't stand watching it now. Bo (Blonde one) gets on my nerves!

I remember seeing somewhere the stunt coordinator for the show telling about the first jump they did. It's in the opening credits, and it totalled the first General Lee before the pilot was even completed. The original General Lee had the 440 under the hood and was so heavy that when it landed, so much force was applied to the drivetrain that it compressed the transmission and shoved the driveshaft clear through the rear differential.

During the duration of the show, they used Chargers and occasionally Challengers (if you look real hard you can see some bad editing). I read somewhere that over 100 General Lees existed since they were only usable for one jump.

Side note, I also remember seeing somewhere that they had to remove the steering wheel to allow them to slide in the driver's window (Tom Wopat had a hard time squeezing in IIRC) but I can't seem to verify that.

For the Fall Guy they finally built a special jump truck that was mid engine and beefed up to handle the jumps. IF you look at some of the jumps after the first season you can see the engine hanging out in the middle. The studio wouldn't pay for it so the Producer did. Saved a lot of trucks. If only the Dukes producer had been that smart.

I love watching that montage of the Fall Guy. I was looking for all of the inconsistancies in the trucks. If you look at the headlights, some are late 70's trucks and others are early 80's. They couldn't seem to agree on the color of (or need for) a steering stabilizer either. Axle trusses seem to come and go also. If you pause the video when the truck is jumping over the creek (not the one where it lands IN the creek), it appears they switch to a 2WD RC truck model.

The truck with the axle trusses is the special jump truck they built. There is one shot where it jumps over a boat and it is obviously a toy truck. But remember this is pre CGI. I would rather see a toy jump than stupid CGI effects. There is also one jump where he jumps hos own truck. That one is funny.

A guy at my high school had a General Lee. Roll bars, numbers, welded doors and all. Never knew him to try to jump anything with it though. Never knew him to take a girl on date in it either.
