Cat rp12000e portable generator, 240v outlet works but none of the 110v do. It was brand new in the crate and doa. I did some skid steer work for a guy and this was my payment. Thought it was a good deal but turns out CAT discontinued these and the local dealer knows nothing about them. So no real recourse for a new generator or repair but figure its gotta be something simple. According to the electrical diagram, both legs run through the energy-saving controller/ voltage regulator. Maybe that's the problem?
Gonna call around to more CAT dealers on Monday.

Thanks for any help

1) I don't believe that is discontinued. That's a long line of history of cat not supporting what they sell on the electrical side.
2) all the parts are still available for those because of who oems them for cat. Make no mistake they are cheap pos(s), like all similar products but parts availabiloty is still fine
3) can you snap a pic of the control panel where the plug in are? I may be able to help site unseen.

Based on that diagram I would start with the White wire coming out of the winding. Making sure it is connected to the buss bar. It appears that if the "energy saver" was blown nothing would be working.

Just get one of those 220v to 110 plugs
LOL if I didnt need both at the same time I would

Well that makes me feel better and worse at the same time. Here is the pic, let me know if I can provide anymore info.

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ normally you're right but I'm trying to run my 220 plasma cutter and 110 air compressor out at the farm, at the same time

Do you have proper Hertz and voltage on the 220v plug? if so, I would be checking the breakers at the top of the 110v plugs. Once they pop a few times they are useless.

I would also check across the black & red for 220v then the red to white and black to white for 110V

if you have 60 hertz and low voltage check your capacitors. Use the micro ferrets function on your meter. If you don't have that function, remove the capacitors one at a time and make a couple of leads. put on the capacitor and charge on a 12v battery. Put your meter in volts and watch the voltage drop. and faster then 1V in 8-10 seconds and the capacitor has failed.

Finally got a chance to mess with it this afternoon,
The main power wire runs through the breaker for the 240v outlet and has to be on for the rest of the outlets to work. The first time I tested it I had the breaker off but the 240v was still working. :dumbass:

Not sure if that's how all generators are wired but hopefully my stupidity can help someone else in the future.

Dont feel bad. Thats actually what I was going for with my control panel request...which you sent and I never looked at until just saw this bumped.

Sorry
