Getting Keys Cut

I have a Steel OEM blank key for my Jetta, and I took it to Guilford lock and key and the guy said he couldn't cut it because it was a steel key and would tear his blade up.......I got the exact same key cut at Ace, but they did a horrible job and won't work....Anyone know of anywhere in the triad that can cut a steel key? Higgins can't do it either.
 
Volkswagen dealer maybe?
if 2 locksmiths won't touch it, sounds like you're SOL...but that doesnt make sense to me. I thought Higgins was around before steel was invented.
