So as I get older I can't remember exactly where all the bolts go after I disassemble something, so today I decided to help the old brain out haha. Any one else got some simple tips or tricks to make our lives a little easier?

I try to put the bolts back on their respective place or use bags

Once when doing the timing cover on a 22re I printed off a pic of the diagram and stapled it to a box, then put the bolts through the pic

Cheap Walmart plastic storage bins, the 2 to 8 quart type with lids. I always have one at hand, and just throw everything somewhat small in it, and then organize later after teardown.

I am a list maker by nature.
I use the note maker on my phone for everything now as it is better than paper notes all over my chest of drawers.
Things I need to do today, this week, before Christmas ect.
Prepping items we need, parts we need, birthdays, events

If it's a quick job I tend to lay bolts out in a pattern of how they came out. Just hope they don't roll away.

I like to break a few off or strip one. Maybe drop one somewhere impossible to retrieve. Make a run to the parts store, and turn an hour job into an all day affair. Standard operating procedure.

I put mine on the radiator support, the battery, the cowl, the fenders, the bumper.... Then bitch at myself later.

Or when I'm rebuilding a my carb, I have a couple of serving trays that I work off of. Keeps items from rolling off. So far I typically have a pretty good memory for where the bolts go.

clear baggies & sharpie, take lots of pics.

Did that with a valvebody disassembly and damn nigh memorized all the parts.
