Getting the most most out of selling my 2006 TJ Rubicon

I recently bought a 06 TJ Rubicon for a great deal. I was planning on fixing it up and driving it as a weekend toy but yesterday we got our Health Insurance renewal price for this year and it went up 30% which kind of kills the money to pay for a weekend toy. My health insurance is now a nice sized mortgage payment. Now I need to sell it but I want to make sure I get the most money I can out of it to help with my financial situation.I got the jeep cheap because it has a few issues like, rear axle seal leak, occasional cylinder one misfire, busted windshield, and front driveshaft has been hitting the exhaust. I think this due to poor exhaust routing during a recent CAT replacement combined with worn out springs/shocks. My wife wants me to just sell it as is and take what I can get, but I am thinking that if I fix most of the issues myself I could potentially get a lot more for it. I think I can fix it for about $1000 if I do the axle seal/engine tune/and suspension work myself. So my questions is would fixing all those issues bring me that much more on resale? If the jeep had low miles then I know it would be worth it, but at 200k I am wondering if its better to sell as is.

As crazy as jeep prices are I wouldn't fix it but still put a premium price on it.But Im a greedy capitalist Bastard.Heres the real question,is it a REAL rubicon??? and I don't mean cause the hood says so.
My wife wants me to just sell it as is and take what I can get,
Terrible advise,w that mindset your always gonna lose money.

I am a little concerned with the misfire too but I am hoping it is something simple. I will do a compression and leakdown test before I do anything else to it to see if there are any major issues. Yes its a real rubicon it has the lockers, 4:1 rocker guards etc.. The guy I bought it from is a tech/computer guy and has never done anything to it other than oil changes, air filter changes, brakes and O2 sensor/CAT replacement. He bought it with 8k miles on it. He said he has never even changed the spark plugs so I am hoping that is all it is or something else simple. It runs pretty good and the check engine light only comes on very infrequently.

I would do like Gubni said, and fix all the little things and start at top dollar.

What do you think you could get for it, if you fix all these issues yourself, since it still has 200k miles on it?

Not sure yet. There are three similar ones on craigslist now from 14k-16k but they have less mileage. All fixed up I am thinking between 9k-12k.

I’d say fixed up your looking at about 10k with a estimated time frame of 1-2 weeks to sell. Go up to 12k and you will probably set on it for a few months before you find a buyer. Just my .02 though.

Post it for sale in the Chattanooga area....prices are astrofuckingnomical around here. It'll sell within the week Id guess.
