well, it's gotten to the point where i am tired of having a project and nothing to get out on the trail with. I just don't have the money or facilities to do a complete build like I had originally planned. The current idea would be to sell some stuff in order to buy a toyota or jeep, keep the entire drivetrain and just swap in my axles (HPD60, 14bolt with 5.13s and detroits) and just happily run that with the deep gears in the axles. what I have to let go is a complete ORD 203/205 doubler with High Angle driveline E-brake and triple stick, C6 with Art-Carr off road manual valve body and gate shifter, a complete 302HO and a ready to build 351 bored .030 with new pistons. I could use the current leaf springs i have on the 150 to use on the axles going into whatever I would purchase, then just scrap the rest of the old 150.
It's all just talk right now, but I sure am tired of watching and not wheeling, plus this new idea seems like it would get me on the trail infinitely quicker than what I have now.
 
Just finish the damn thing.
 
sounds like everything is there.... youre running leaves, so i dont see how finishing this truck would be significantly more work that starting over with a yota or something?

the fact that i dont have a place to put it all together anymore, and all the small stuff that is left to do on the truck (i pretty much stripped it to no more than a cab on a frame). I figure by buying something that is smaller and already mostly together all i would really have to do is just weld some spring perches and throw the axles under it. and then just connect brake lines, steering and some drive shafts and I would be off.
 
if you're in raleigh and need a hand or anything let me know and i'd be happy to help you finish it if you decide to :)

my take on it is if you're going to get something to swap your tons into, you might as well finish what you have.

do you have to put the motor/tranny/tcase into the f150 still?

probably not dude, it is really hard to sell stuff with the economy how it is right now. if you did sell that stuff you would probably take a huge hit on it. i would just be patient and finish what you have
