Well, not really a power wheels, but similar.

My son has a Fast Lane Mud Warrior 4x4 that my in-laws bought off of Craigslist. He gets bored with it really easily because it is REALLY slow.

Plus it is really a 4x1, but whatever.

It has a little 6V battery, but it is painfully slow. He's only 2 and is begging me to make it faster, guess he's definitely my son.

Any way to make it faster without making it TOO fast? I could get another 6V battery and it would boost it up a little bit, right?

more than likely.....increasing voltage will increase speed until motor failure.

Need to know what the motors are rated for max input voltage. An increase in ampacity will lead to more torque, less bog and longer run life.

I know from experience that a peg perego john deere gator will run over an hour on 36vdc...and will hit a top speed in excess of 15mpf provided it can maintain traction....afte that the axles break and tires crack

You can add another 6v battery to and run it in series so it creates 12v or just put a single 12v battery in. It should hold up, but you'll be spinning that one tire really hard. I run alot of my sons powerwheels on 18v or 24v. But have rewired most of them with 12 gauge wire to handle the extra power.

I know, that was the problem I was worried about. I'm thinking about spraying some liner on the tire to give it some grip.
That's a darn good idea!!!

Run some self tapping screws in the wheels.

When I worked at Advance a customer would buy a new Lawn Mower battery for 20 bucks for his kids power wheels. He said they could ride for something like 3-4 hours on one charge. I'd go that route.

Ok, I like to think of myself as a PowerWheel guru. Adding traction to the tires is a BAD idea. They are designed to spin so you don't kill the plastic gears. I was successfull for years finding junk PW's and stealing the motors. Start out with a set of alligator clips and an 18v battery. I always used the 12v PW's with the 18v dewalt batteries. My daughter loved it, and would say "make it go fast Daddy!". Gives it the ability to do donuts on pavement.

there was a thread on here a LONG time ago. from the above post...im guessing it was gotwoods.

I would tinker with the one you have already, but If you want a better vehicle, such as a powerwheels. Just let me know I have a bunch of spare vehicles and parts. I can help you out cheap and show you some of the stuff I have done with my sons. If you want to see a few of them, go to the Photo gallery on here and look for Does anyone want their kids powerwheels modded. That'll show you I'm not pulling your leg.

Well, my in-laws had a Barbie Corvette that was painted red sitting behind their shed. All the wiring is there and it is in decent shape, but the motors are broken. I'm going to try and grab some motors off of eBay (or if anyone has any here to hook a brotha up) and put a bigger battery in it and let him go to town with it. It is dirty as hell, but I had planned on painting it to push him around in on Halloween. He's going as a race car driver. Definitely my little boy! :)

About 4-5yrs ago I bought my godson a powerwheels and bought him the rubber traction bands that went over the tires, they worked great in the snow

here is a pic of one my friend built for River Raider contest on JKowners, he put a waverunner battery in it, it made it a lot faster. Also they float in deep puddles, even with 2 kids in it

thats just the first one, there are dozens......

Power wheels mods are cool and plentiful, I never found one for my kid, every time I'd find one on Craigslist, it was gone already. she's too big for one now, time for a gocart.....
