quick question. I see a lot of talk about the importance to get bigger TRE's, but besides the threaded shank; what is the real difference between 1/2 ton GM and 1-ton GM. is the taper different? Same taper, only cut deeper? I'm asking because I am wondering how much/what kind of modifications I will need to do to my knuckles to run the larger TRE's.

Ream the tapered hole out as needed for the stud to seat. Its the same taper angle.

I wonder about the strenfth of the offset gm tre's vs the regular 1 tons. I guess I'll find out shortly.

That is what I was looking for.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it's good enough to put on a factory vehicle and warranty, it's good enough. But then again, I never worried about the GM ignition switch until recently.

The offset ones wear out a lot faster.

Wonderful
