I bought a 1986 k10 my freshman year in highschool and have had it every since. I've replaced the old 305 with a built 350. It has the 700 r4 overdrive tranny. I can't get the thing to shift right. It may be that it's bout worn out but I'm just tryin to make sure before rebuilding it. First off the TV cable dosent set itself like it should. But i've set it by disconnecting it and opening the throttle wide open and setting the cable the same distance. I know these things have to be perfect. It shifts pretty well at low temps but after the motor and tranny reaches operating temp. it starts to get sloppy and stacking shifts. I put a holley 650 spread bore carb on it and the corresponding TV correctional bracket that it calls for. I was wondering if anyone had any advice. Also, after I put the suspension lift on, I lowered the transfer case with the factory spacers. It seems like after I did that is when I started having problems. I was wondering if the transmission ride angle had anything to do with it. The fluid is new also.

Nah the converters are the same.

The not wanting to shift when hot problem is typical of a worn out trans. Either the valves are sticking or fluid is leaking by some seals when hot

I wouldn't suspect the the shifting problem to be the TV cable(and your right they have to be dead on adjustment) if it only occurs when hot

Are you using the deep pan and filter/pickup? There are 2 different types
