Just replaced my 98LS S-10 fuel pump w a new Delphi unit and it will not energize. I found the black wire on the 3 wire plug broken when I peeled off the tape to splice in the new 4 wire connector and wonder if that's why the old fp quit. I cleaned up the broken ends and spliced them back together w another heat shrink connector. I have replaced the FP relay and all the fuses seem ok but the FP will not pump.

Pass lock activated? If so it will not turn on

Check for voltage on the grey wire. Should go hot for a few seconds at key on and again while cranking. Also x2 @snappy. Is the theft or security light flashing?

The three wire connector is fuel tank pressure for emissions. Will not affect fuel pump powering up.

It has no security system and I spliced the 4 wire connector per the instuctions, will check the gray wire for voltage. The door bell rings and lights come on w the key but nothing from the FP.

I believe that....the black wire had been broken for years, possibly from the factory and the strands were black....Maybe it will run if i cut that wire off again

I still have the bed off and the tail light grounds undone and just heard that the grounds for the tail lights need to be hooked up for the FP to get power?

Yep. On some trucks they do. If there's a ground ring terminal on the frame side wire harness

Well shit, I coulda had it back together today but I gave up and went for a beer. I noticed the 2 factory tail light grounds on each side of the frame and the plug in trailer lights ground I installed in 07 were pretty rusty. I think I might put new ends on the 3 grounds before putting them back. I already scratched the frame to bare metal and need to clean up the rusty threads in the frame or drill new ones. Thanks Tim :D:bounce::beer:

Go on vacation and come back and find out I missed this. X2 what everybody else said.

..hooking up the grounds fixed it........fuel pump hums, it cranks and runs fine, 200 more rpms than before @ idle..........and no leaks!:bounce::D:bounce::driver::rockon: thanks to ALL for the help :D you're all Fawesome.
