Anyone else having issues with these pesky creatures this year?
I have searched and nothing to breed them. Someone told me they were coming from the drain. I have sprayed and even reduced to hanging some of those sticky things. I had one of them fill up and replaced it. No matter what I do, I still have em.
So if you have issues, what are you doing?

We get them every year due to gardening / canning and such. We use fly strips and take jars- poke holes in lids - and fill slightly with apple cider vinnegar. They crawl in holes and can't come back out. Does better than the fly strips but the strips help as well.

back in the spring we were infested w/ thousands of those little buggers and I tried everything even the vinegar traps. What I ended up doing was letting them swarm around the vinegar trap by the hundreds and then just spraying them with some jlying insect spray then cleaning the counter off.
Good luck I know they are agrivating.

we used regular bombs at the ex's house. hers were caused from veggies in the house. i read a few tips online. 1 was the vinegar traps. and pouring clorox down your drains where they breed. the bombs still worked the best

Grab a fly swatter and get some exercise.....

Pour about a 1/4 to 1/2 cup ammonia down all the drains where you see the darn things. Let it sit several hours before running water thru the drain. You may have to repeat the process when they reappear.

Could they possibly be fruit flies?

You know, they say time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

I have nothing useful to say, but I DO hate any and all flying insects in my house too.

First thing you need to do is find out where they are coming from.

Close off each room as best as you can. Once you have each room closed off, kill as much as you can with spray or swatter. Then wait and see which room they come back in. This will help to narrow down where they are coming from. If it is bathroom / kitchen / rooms with sink/shower/tub then they could be drain flies. Best way to take care of those is like someone said above, but I use bleach. About a 1/2 cup in the drain and let it set for an hour. Rinse through with at least 2 gallons of water. Repeat this once more. If collecting in kitchen/pantry/food areas, then it is most likely fruit flies. For that you just get rid of the rotted fruit and kill the flies.

Post up if neither of these seem to be the sources. There are more possibilities as to what this could be than you probably want to know, but these are the two most common.
