I posted this in the ATV sub forum but apparently no one reads that lol.

My boys really want a go kart for Christmas. Anything in particular to look for? The Coleman's from TSC look decent enough.

I've thought about the Coleman and I see a bunch of them on marketplace.

I keep looking at the mini jeeps, and used RZR170s, but I'm not sure yet how much I'm willing to spend on this.

We're looking for something for our kid's (currently 7 and 9) to purchase around their next birthdays in May.

Sounds like we're in exactly the same boat. My only holdup with a used mini jeep is lack of roll cage.

Nice, but my kids are only 4 and 6 🤣

Had a mini jeep, it did ok in the woods but it is not fast by any means. They don't have suspension, the shocks don't move at all even with two adults in them. You won't get it out of 1st gear without jarring the teeth out of your head.

RZR 170's are expensive and nothing more than a glorified go cart, I think the really new ones have independent rear suspension which would be a big improvement.

I have a rzr170 that was swapped to a 500cc sportsman engine/trans/suspension. It's awesome, but I have been waiting FOREVER for the engine shop to bore the cylinder out for a new piston as it had seized up (LAST YEAR). He has had the cylinder probably 8 months or so... It would be a job to convert one, but that thing gets my vote. Nothing else made that is kid sized that is actually capable of doing stuff.

I know one that’s pretty cool.

It’s even 4x4 and has a winch and a full cage and suspension seats. 😁

Not for long.
Edit: if dad can't cram his butt in it can't be demonstrated properly. One of my fondest memories is my Two fortyish, six three pop riding a wheelie on a late eighties yz 80. Nearly bucked him off......

Bought this one for my son about 4 yrs ago. The electric start didn't seem to spin the motor over fast enough or somethign for it to start. I even bought a bigger motorcycle battery and welded up a new mount. It always started on the first couple of pulls though. He doesn't ride it anymore, so I need to sell it.
