If you haven't already, go out and vote. And while you are voting, please vote YES for the ConnectNC Bond. Almost everyone in the state can benefit from this bond.

I'd be interested in hearing more about how we can benefit from this bond. Just as a general rule, I voted "no" because the state is already misappropriating enough of my money, and while it's too late now, I'd like to know more. There was text on the ballot specifically stating that this would give the power to tax in order to fulfill the bond.

All of the pros are listed in the link. In short almost every University in UNC system will receive funds for needed projects, in my opinion education helps everyone in our state. Other pros are the funds for parks and recreation, which anyone can enjoy.

I know it would allow our local CC to expand with several badly needed buildings for both support and instruction, while expanding existing and new degree programs.

Means expansion for several departments that would allow for several part time instructors to then be full time and additional new full and part time instructors.

$980 MILLION of the bill is for the UNC system. Have you visited UNCC or App in the past few years? No wonder they need more money, they spent it all on what I would call extravagant buildings, all while raising tuition.

Damn, I forgot to update my voter registration when I moved. I thought I did, but apparently did not.

So I missed my chance to choose which Muppets character would be available to run our fine country.

No you didn't I changed mine today!

I had to go to my old polling station, but the lady changed it for me in the computer then I got to vote.

No EXCUSES! go VOTE!

Shit, didn't realize that, so you could vote at your old station?

FYI, typically at colleges, and especially state universities, buildings like that tend to be funded by other discretionary non-fixed funds, e.g. money brought in by sports or donations, NOT the regular state funded budget.
I don't know anything about these particular cases, just the way things are normally run.
When my mom worked for HCC, at one point they were literally waiting for somebody to die so they could get a much-needed building expansion from an estate endowment.

Going after work today.

Edward Jones will most likely get a big chunk of the $2 billion dollar bond. So if you are interested in earning tax free interest on your personal savings, PM your contact information and I'll call you when we have it available to buy. Interest rates will be much higher than long term CD rates.

I noticed that several of the Community college systems are listed, but not Davidson County. One of the reasons I voted against it. There is nothing directly benefitting anything in Davidson County on any of the lists, yet my kids' school is Title 1.

I voted .....but I live in Thomasville and we're hood over here, they don't even give us a "I voted" sticker.

Maybe I should've voted yes on the bond, but I'm so tired of seeing and hearing about state run departments "dumping" budget money to qualify for the same allocation the following year, I just couldn't do it. When my personal budget is insufficient I make cuts I don't ask for more.

EXACTLY. I wish every agency - be it government, education, church (yes, even churches are guilty of this) or non-profit would think this way. We have a budget based solely around our income. If we want something that is outside the budget, we have to cut back on other things until we can afford the new item. If that means finding extra work to help pay for it - so be it. It may mean selling off items no longer needed. But always stay inside the budget, don't just put it on credit and hope that the money comes in.

And yea.... I was bummed because they didn't have I Voted stickers at my polling place either. I wanted to give one to my son because they were talking about it in school and they even had a vote to demonstrate it. Darn hood of Davidson County. Like a third world country over here... :)

I voted at 6:40am, but had forgot to check/change my party. Even as a Primary, I never liked having to vote your registered Party.
Anyway, I tried to help Bernie, Not Hellary!
