That's right. All you hunters out there can gobble my wang. I'm missing the first day of turkey season because we're having an outage at work. Well, I hope the birds all sit in the tree and take the day off :flipoff2:

Just got home, Dad's first Turkey hunt. We heard nothing this morning but Whipoorwills, Crows, Woodpeckers and songbirds...........and 2 quick shots 300yrds away. It was a beautifull morning though, calm and quiet after the Whipoorwills quit and before the other birds. We left when the wind started blowing alot and will return later this afternoon. Dad had a new, inflatable hen decoy that looks amazingly real and makes my old one look like crap so I set mine 15' from us and my Jake near the pretty girl. I was puzzled by the shooting, we would have heard any calls from the hill we were on. I assume someone set decoys on a long straight dirt path that runs where the shot's came from, and a Tom saw it and walked in w/o gobbling. This path is on power co. land that is posted no hunting too.

Uhhh turkey season is three weeks old :)

Sit from sunrise till sunset Friday and today and nothing. Just wasn't vocal today although I think this wind had a good play in that. Good luck to anyone else that goes.

I set a buddy of mine on a hot spot. hopefully, he'll produce a bird. I'm gonna try and go Wednesday morning.

yeah he cut one this morning. I literally served this bird up on a platter for him. I really wish I could have made it but he'll owe me one in the future.

me and my buddy went Saturday morning. they were gobbling their heads off till they hit the ground. heard several birds. he shot one that snuck in behind us. when he shot, I took off and ran in the field to grab him. looked on the other side of the power line while running and found a nice shed off a 8 pointer. haha. his turkey had a 9 1/2 inch beard and 3/4 inch spurs. went and listened this morning on another farm and heard several. I will start working on them next week. vacation!

seems like the birds havent really turned on in the western part of the state yet or at least in the mountains had friends from the coast to the hickory area take a bird.... we and my roommate hunted from before dark till when they should have been on roost. i didnt see anything at a place were i usally see 30 birds and he saw two hens that walked right in front of him and they werent putting or purring. i just dont think they have hit there peak yet here cause its been so cool here...... guess im gonna take of work sometime this week to go find them :D
