Ok, I thought this was worthy of the Forum of Imprudence..

went to check out Transferring my domain registration to GoDaddy.com

On there home page they have "$6.99 Transfer Domain and get a free year"

I run thru the checkout process and my total is $14.38.... um why?

I run thru it again, making sure I didn't miss any check boxes and whatever. still $14.38.

I called their Sales Support and asked why, she said I had an additional year in my Shopping cart. Oh, ok, so $14.38 for 3 years then, I asked. Um, no that's 2 years. she replies. I retort with, but one year is free, it says right here in my check out. She replies YES. So I can't help myself at this point. "So my free year costs $6.99?" She says yes and laughs...

um.... ok.... thank you. *click*

Um, no..

You're paying $6.99 for the transfer. That's an instantaneous transaction. That covers you for a split second on say, 10/26/07. A transfer doesn't mean they take over domain name registration AND a year, a transfer is just that.

Your free year covers you from 10/26/07 to 10/26/08

You're paying $7.39 for 10/26/08 to 10/26/09

Makes sense to me.

Ya, that does make sense, but that's not what she confirmed ;)

I asked her, "So my Free year Costs $6.99" she said "YES"

What you said is correct and makes sense, I didn't catch that at the time.
