Disrespectful? Why should military get any more respect than the guy that empties my garbage can? They make the same amount of money and nobody is forcing them to do it.

if you think that the respect you get or deserve from people comes from how much money you make, you've got a lot to learn about the world.
Dude deserves respect exactly for the fact that he's taking on a fairly crappy task by his own choice as you point out yourself.

Youre exactly right, nobody is forcing them to do it. It's this thing called a desire to serve. A feeling of reverence for this country and what it stands for. A true calling to a greater good, that you apparently don't understand. You may never get it, and thats fine. You don't have to, because some of us do. One of the best analogies is with wolves, sheep, and sheepdogs. I don't know where you fall into the equation,you are just fleeced.

If the guys in the military want to think they are better because they make minimum wage and get shot at, Im all for it. There are more important things in life than making more than minimum wage, and I guaran-damn-tee you that you make more than minimum wage in the military. If mommy and daddy don't tell you what to do with your life, you don't always know, so you might need a few years to figure it out. What better way than to live with few expenses, guaranteed job security, and a decent income, all while getting respectable real world experience, and doing something with meaning.

I for one thank him and any other service men for his/her service. Its really sad that there are some people who have such a lack of respect for the men and women that put thier lives at risk for our freedom.

I have not seen this thread before, but I would beat the crap out of anyone that disrespects our military. Wow, I do not even know where to start, I can not believe those thoughts ever crossed someones mind.

I have the utmost respect for any man or women that chooses to fight for our country, and the freedom that we wake up to every morning.

x2 on deleting all of 69stingrays post, that is not necessary at all.

Because the guy who empties your damn garbage can doesnt risk taking a bullet to the head to do it. I know your banned and can not ever see this post, but DAMN this makes me mad.

Any volunteer who works to protect our country, be it Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine, Coast Guard...you name it, deserves our respect. Do YOU know what it means to leave a mom, dad, family, wife, daughter, cousin, behind to possibly never come back again?! No..you cant understand, and never will. Thats like calling a black person the N word. You will NEVER understand what that means to them, because you never stepped into their shoes.

To all the men in Uniform, I respect you as much as I possibly can. God Damn this naysayer. Whether you believe the war in Iraq was the correct decision, or not, the choice has been made. I can only thank each and every one of you brave men and women in words every day I live in a country where I am free.

The first picture is of Leslie's Fathers headstone. He is buried in a Military cemetery, he served WWII, and Korea, in the Navy, and then in the Army. He retired from there. He lived life with problems he obtained while in the service.

The second is My son Josh Who is a Iraq Vet, and soon to begin his second tour over there. I am a father who does not know if he will return. I know he has a choice to go, or not to go. I am damn proud of him for what he is doing. They are called freedom fighters. He fights so people like you(stingray) has the right to voice your opinion without ramifications other than a ban from this site(again). To think My son has chosen to leave his daughter, to protect your rights really pisses me off. I am sure you will find a way back in here again, so if and when you do, feel free to contact me, this 46 year old father of a soldier, will take you to school.
