Heading to Dollywood tomorrow in Pigeon Forge. I assumed I will take the I-40 route past Ashville and into TN. But the google map genius shows a 421 to I-81 route is only 10 minutes longer. I am coming from Efland NC (Burlington) heading west. Either of those particularly better or worse or some other ideas to get there? Just a car or truck (haven't decided yet) no trailers or anything. Just want the easiest drive. Leaving around 9AM Monday so any quick suggestions would be appreciated.

I just went to Gatlinburg a couple weeks ago. The drive through Cherokee is worth it if you have a liitle extra time. Its not much longer.

I always go i40 to exit 432a in Newport tn. It's about a 18 mile 2 lane country road into dollywood/ Sevierville tn. You also get to see the Bush beans factory on you way! It's always been the quickest.

Yup, I40 then sneak in the back way as previously stated on 411 past the Bush Bean factory. This will put you on the East side of the strip. We once came in from the North off of 40....I guess it was Hwy 66....BIG mistake. Friday traffic was SO backed up. Bumper to bumper for an hour moving at 10 mph. 411 is really a nice road.

Took 40. No problem. However 411 needs a facelift in places bad. Turned on to the parkway strip and holy hell took 45 min to go the last 5 miles. I was fuming by the time we got to the hotel and I'm sure my kids added some new vocabulary to their repertoire . There was a lot of giggling coming from the back seat and my wife was giving me some dirty looks but knew better than to chime in at that point. Vacation road trip....good times:rolleyes:

I live in Newport and work in Pigeon Forge. That's my daily route to/from work. It's a nice ride on the bike.
