We are thinking of going through Charlotte on our way to Harlan KY and checking
out a 4x4 store on the way. My question is which one has good inventory to check out and is also pretty easy to get to off of the main roads with room to park a full size truck and 24 foot trailer. I do not
know much about Charlotte or what shops are there. I know 4WD has a store somewhere and
just recently stumbled across Tar heel 4x4 web site. Thanks for any input Oh we would be getting to Charlotte around 10.00 to 11.00 if that matters

Both stores are pretty much it! I suggest hitting both, & will still be able to head to Harlan. Tarheel has a bigger lot, but medium in road. Need to be heading south.
4WD has a small lot, but you might be able to use the next door lot, of a closed business. Scope them out on Google.

I'm not sure I'd get off 74 for 4wp. The store is fine, but they don't stock a tremendous amount of stuff and South Blvd is a PITA with traffic, light rail, etc.

Tarheel is the place, they know theyre stuff. 4WP is ok if you want some neon green shock boots or autozone like service.

I would 2nd this - think the "walmart" of off road. However I do find that they always have coupon codes for their online stuff which makes me happy

Thanks We thought it would be fun to stop a few places on the way. Road Trip

If you're near Boone, High Country 4x4 has some neat Jeeps that I think belong to the owner(s). It's almost like a mini-museum inside.

I'd stop off at Carolina toughies before I got to Charlotte....plenty I Parkin room...and Alex always has something cool going on, modest sized show room though I suppose if you wanted to push a shopping cart.

Really neither is anything to look at (4wp or Tarheel) both can get what you want though

How far is Galloways from 74? You could go haggle with them just for fun!

If you wanted to see some badass welds stop in and see Chris at Marsfab, I don't remember exactly where his shop is in relation to 74 but worth the stop.

sent from a fancy Samsung Note 2 with an illiterate operator. ..

A lot of information thanks. Not really looking to push a buggy. Just looking for interesting stuff and people of like mind set. Where we live there is nothing

much to look at . Marsfab sounds interesting. Quote I'd stop off at Carolina toughies before I got to Charlotte. Where and what is this?

One of the

guys in our group does a lot of welding and fab, pipe bending. He is always looking for new ideas.

Carolina truggies is in Indian Trail just off of 74. Look for his name in vendor section for gps address.

Carolina Truggies and Marsfab both do a lot of pipe bending too, they've got some nice examples on their work on here in the Build Threads.

I assume you are taking 74 to I-85 to I-26? My shop is about 1 mile off of I-26 here in Asheville. Not much as far as showroom goes. But if you enjoy the aroma of gear oil, you are welcome to stop by. :D
Got a ZJ build, D300 overhaul going on as well as a stroker rebuild too. Shoot me a PM if you want to stop by

If you stop by 4wp, talk to Will. He has hooked up many folks on here. He seriously knows his shit. he will take care of you for sure.
