ok, so i'm home on thanksgiving break in charlotte, nc.
what are some good/cheap junkyards close to here?

i've been to city salvage, and that's the type of yard that i'm looking for. one where they let you walk around in it, etc.

looking for 14 bolt, possibly front ford 60, waggy 44's driver drop, etc. basically axles

any suggestions?

hey man I live in the charlotte area and the only junk yard I know you can wonder around in is pull-a-part. Its off of tryon, you can go to there website and see what kind of vehicles they have in there. A couple yards like don's auto parts and things might have something you are looking for it is a more of a older yard. good luck

I visited Gordon's in China Grove two weeks ago looking for a 60/14 combo. They couldn't help me with the front 60, but had a few 14s around. However, they don't let you walk around.

see that's no fun. city salvage lets you walk around all you want. prices are kind of steep, dude thought his three toyotas were made of gold. lol but they had a ton of heavy duty stuff.

i think i've driven by pull a part, is that that new one where you pay to get into the lot?

keep em comin

Never mind the hijack, but did you notice if they had any '70's Ford 4x4 stuff?

Btw back on topic, I just went to the Pullapart yesterday to get a C6 tranny. Its a good concept for a junk yard. But I'd advise if you see something you'd think you might need or like to have you'd better get it. It doesn't take but a few days for something to get raped. Also you can check their invetory and prices all online. http://Pullapart.com

City Auto Salvage on 70(aka miami) cant not be walked around. I was there 2 weeks ago and they wont let you go near the yard

Where is City Salvage in Charlotte?

Just for common knowledge. We have 2 yards here in Rowan county that are supposed to be state of the art. One is RPM's on hwy29 the other is Hut Stricklands off of hwy 70. They bring in a car dismantle it, clean the parts, and catalog them indoor in a warehouse. I think that really sucks, their parts are usually higher because of the added labor. Not to mention I like to keep the bolts I take off when I remove a part. I guess their big claim to fame is that they are enviromentally friendly since there are no vehicles stored for outside for long periods of time.

they let ya walk around all you want. and i've driven past pull-a-part on N. Tryon, but never got to go in yet.

ya need to come to Morganton. many JY here, and most all that I have been to do allow you to walk the yard.
