So our current batch of phones are pretty much dead after about 2 years of use. The speakers are toast and we can't hear them ring any more. We don't really abuse them, but they are in a workshop so it isn't totally conditioned and they must have just gone crappy.

Any recommendations for a phone that isn't that expensive and doesn't suck. Gotta be one that has a separate base and VOIP compatible.

Any landline phone is "voip compatible" since the voip transmission is happening in a seperate device.

My grandmother has an old rotary phone in her den. Her "landline" connection is voip through magicjack or something, although she has no idea the actual phone line is no longer cinnected to the house, lol.

Do Milwaukee or Dewalt make cordless phones? We seem to like all their other cordless stuff!

What kind of range do you need?

Maybe 100' or so. More would be nice. Shop is 50x50 and we have a lot that we walk in when looking for parts.

That is true. Didn't really think of that. Haven't had a land line in years until I moved to the new shop so wasn't really thinking about it like that.

So just to ask a dumb question - how many phones do you need? Why not do something like add a 2nd line to your cell phone via Google Voice, or just get a cheap cell phone?

Cell service at the shop is spotty, and we have three guys who work here so that's why we have a land line. We really only need two phones, one in the front and one in the back of the shop. It is hard to hear the one in the front when you are working on something in the back.

So it sounds like you're looking for the style that has a normal handset main "station" that the landline cord will go into, and a separate cordless phone/charger. We have of those at home and its been great, and old Panasonic thing but the range is only about 30'. Barely reaches across the house.

Yep, that's what we are using now. We just can't hear them ring any more.

You're a smart guy. Take it apart and tap into the line going to the ringer, hook that up to an old stereo system. Turn that shit up to 11.
