I have a friend that has a 1992 YJ with a 4.0 and and automatic transmission.

She has had intermittent no start conditions (I couldn't tell if she was talking about not firing or not turning over), a "bad" fuel pump, leaky gas tank, and a previous mechanic "redid some wires" and now she says that it smells funny.

She is trying to decide whether or not to put some money into the wrangler or buy a new vehicle.

Anyway, I don't know jack about fuel injected computerized vehicles and barely know anything about carbed ones.

Does anyone know a RELIABLE and TRUSTWORTHY person that could take a look at her jeep and keep it running?

TIA

Thanks for the suggestion.

She's by the fairgrounds. That is not too far of a hike for her.

She is driving the jeep daily now and it hasn't really let her down. She is just about to move out of state and is trying to decide what is a better investment, a new car or putting some cash into this one.

Fixed it for ya..

This may sound a little Dave Ramsey-ish, but if you have to finance more than say, 50% of the price on a new car, you shouldn't be buying something brand new. (Dave would say "cash or nothing", but being a car guy, I indulge myself a little)

I am with you. If I can't pay for 100% in cash, I am not getting it.

The only things that I am making payments on are my house and my education both of which have low interest rates.

I told her that I though an investment in this vehicle to keep it reliable would be better and cheaper than making payments on just about anything.

I work up at advance auto on western, I think Last Chance might be the only shop in raleigh that I have not heard a complaint about.
