Good online resource for CAT C7s?

Uncle and I were headed out today and the engine cut out in his boat.
The screen on the CAT display read something along the lines of “lost data connection”.

Is there a good online resource to learn and trouble shoot these engines? This is our first season with the boat and the engine has hardly any hours on it but has sat in the hull for a few years out of the water.

It is less than ideal

This will happen on cat engines under ~11.5v sometimes although you might be running a 24v system. It's also a common error if there is a wiring harness issue or loose ecm connection or if ecm fuse/relay isn't getting power.
I've had all 3 of those issues happen once or twice on different cat truck engines. The ecms don't just die all that often.
