Good place to go for an engine rebuild?

We have a 2004 Grand Am that has a blown head gasket it's currently still running, oil isn't mixing with coolant yet. I was kicking around the idea of getting the motor rebuilt when it does finally go kaput. Only place I'm familiar with near me is Poteats but I don't know if they deal with Pontiac motors. Anyone know of a good place to look in to?

3.4l? It'd check intake gaskets. I've got a disassembled engine that has freshly surfaced heads if you find you need a set!

If you are taking it out your self then take it to HP engines in Norwood. If you need someone else to take it out and have it done then take it to My Honest Mechanic (MHM) in concord behind the race track.

I appreciate that and if I had a shop where I could pull the motor and tear into it for such a task, I would. But between my jeep I'm always wrenching on and my Chevy II I'm trying to build with limited space as it is, I won't be putting a whole lot of wrench time in on the Pontiac

Thanks, yeah I don't think I want to mess with pulling motor myself, with all the stupid wires and mess anymore I don't trust myself to reinstall and everything work properly.

Pretty much anyone could build that motor, it isn't a Pontiac motor, it is a generic GM motor that was probably put into a million GM cars. Guessing it is a 3.4L V6 which came in about every single small GM car of that era. I wouldn't waste the time building it, I would either just redo the heads and roll with it or find another good motor to swap in. They will never really be powerplants, they are basically maxed out 2.8L engines.

Thanks, the motor has 212k miles on it which is why I kicking the idea around of just getting it rebuilt and not just getting the head gaskets replaced.
