Goodbye Merle......

I knew he had been sick and figured this would happen. At his age pneumonia is a dangerous thing.

RIP Merle

Another Legend gone. Maybe it's just my perspective but I don't really see any of today's musicians being as iconic as some of the greats we have lost recently.

A good friend of mine has the distinct honor of having one of the last Highway men as a father in law. I dread that day for his family.

The next generation of outlaw music is already bein made.Sturgill,Whitey Morgan,Chris Stapleton,Shooter Jennings,Lucas Nelson,Paul Thorn,John Fullbright are all makin killer music that the main stream radio is to chicken shit to play. They are only playin CS now because he has won so many awards.Six months ago if you would have ask who Chris Stapleton was all you'd heard was crickets.

We have tickets to see him and Willie @ koka booth soon. I heard he cancelled a show recently and thought he might be in a bad way, felt like crying when I heard he was dead :(

I've still got at least 1 album of his, from the 60s, when I was more into Country. No longer have a turntable, but got them old albums!
My 16 yo is big in to vinyl and has a turn table that's PC compatible. If you ever wanna sell pm me and Ill see what u have versus what he's got. He's got about 100 now.

It sucks that I have reached that age that every month or so (or less) there is the death of a legend of one sense or another. I remember when I was younger watching my parents shake there heads and say "damn, there goes a good one..." and thinking what in the hell are they talking about! Now I'm the one shaking my head..

I was just saying this to my wife when I found out about Merle. We are huge Buffet fans and we try to go every year. I told her I hope he stays around long enough for our son to at least attend 1-2 concerts.

Getting old sucks......
