Got my surplus MTRs

Any contact info? I am looking for some old style MTRs.

Yeah, call or text him, Jeff 910-824-0607
Tell him Paul from Smithfield sent ya.

No 15" size I believe, all I've seen are for 16.5" or the 20" wheels but I just recently wore the makers line off my XL's and I've been riding on them for months

Surplus? I don't see any wear, but what about age? Would there be any in a 15" size?
Yes surplus. I did some one homework on this back in the day. The dod has tires changed on a time line if the hummer hasnt moved in that time it is possible(and see it alot) to see zero milage tire come up.

Yeah the ones I picked looked like new. Some have maybe 10% wear. All 16.5" wheel in the 37s or 20" wheel in the big uns.

I don't think I will "run out of tire" hauling anything LOL

Nice score, let me know how they balance out.

Gotta get the runflat grease out and get my wheels finished. I guess I will see how they balance and then see if I need to add airsoft BBs.
I have read that the hummer MTRs typically balance well. We will see.

Here are my wheels. Ya'll think they will look better plain or should I add rock rings? Can't decide......

Wow those are old school spokies!

I've had the MTR's and retreaded MTR's, both have balanced up awesome. None have been 37" size though. The MT leaves a bit to be desired in the balance department. Then again they are a little long in the tooth by now. I did get a set of centramatic balancers for my M1031 but they won't clear the rim. I have this small indentation used for a center cap trim piece that is interfering. I'm going to buy a set of new 16.5" rims and sell my old ones. They are the F350 9.75" wide rims.

Well, I have these $300 military surplus 37" MTRs to go on my truck so that means I need bumper clearance.

So, I have this painted bumper from my daughter's truck. I get it on the workbench (tailgate) and measure my angle to get me about 2 inches of added tire clearance (at bottom edge of bumper, air dam is cut back around 4") . Sharpie and a straight edge....

Break out my DeWalt 4.5" grinder and get to cutting. I used my jigsaw to cut the plastic air dam. Easy Peasy

Use the orbital sander and some 80 grit to smooth it up and not cut my fingers off later.

I get it sanded all over with the orbital, then wet sand it with a red scotchbrite and purple power degreaser. Blow dry with compressed air.

Tape up the plastic air dam.

I primed with Duplicolor self etching primer and painted with Duplicolor satin black wheel paint. Supposed to resist weather, sun and detergents. After untaping the air dam, I painted it with flat Krylon plastic paint.

Got it bolted on, looks good. Went from chrome bumper to black, I think it looks pretty tough.

This was an easy and fun project. I am ready to get my wheels blasted and painted. I plan to use the same paint as the bumper. I am not sure I love the air dam. I may decide to remove it later, but I do like how it hides the spring hangers and radiator support. 37s here we come.

Yes, been done many times. Blessed with big Ford wheel wells......
Just have to trim the bumper corner otherwise no rubbing.
F350s are pretty tall from the factory.

That is a nice looking rig. Ford really got the frontend of that F350 right. I have to cut my Chevy designed square fenders and lift it 4" to even think about clearing the 37" :)

How are they riding? I gotta get my Centramatics on before they chop worse than they are already.

Not on there yet, gotta finish wheels. Between working on my daughter's truck and stuff around the house I just have not had time. The seat was at the upholstery shop anyway until today. Going out of town tonight so maybe get it finished next week.
