got pulled over today

How about a 50/50 blend of veggie oil & on road diesel? I am still paying fuel tax running diesel. I use the veggie oil as a fuel extender.

I think you should be good to go with veggie oil ! I know a guy the works at a ford dealership he takes home all the used transmission fluid and runs it thru a series of filters and mixes it 50/50 with green fuel it burns great in his 6.0 stroke

My supervisor runs WMO....other than the smell and viscosity issues, it works well. 7.3s like clean fuel, not thick motor oil and a little bit of diesel. I could probably run it just fine in my VE pump Cummins, but I HATE the smell of burnt motor oil. I used to get some bio diesel from a friend and it smelled GREAT! Just like french fries!

I'd love one of the Tahoe drivers to touch my truck without asking.

That fool in the tahoe betwene tryon and west on 485 stoped me in my gas dually and started to try and dip my tank i jumped out of the truck stated who i was and that this is a gas truck and he looked at me like i was stupid and then proceded to give me the 9th degree cause i have a diesel filler neck on my truck ( it had a 6.2 diesel from factory) when i have a gas engine i personally radioed his supervisor to come out. ....... have you seen him out recently :)

I lived in Lenoir a few years back and was stopped twice in one day!! By the same officer!! I was hauling wood the first one and switched trucks to haul a tractor back with another truck. He got me twice. He was really nice and asked before he opened the fuel door.

Used to be if you looked like you were in farming or the grading business where off road fuel was readily available you'd get stopped. Now it seems like they just check everyone!!

I've been stopped by the same guy. Assclown is right. I stepped out of the truck with a side holsetered open carry 357 while he dipped my tank and he actually said "I had to by law" hand him my weapon while he completed the stop. After a brief discussion he dipped my green fuel and then went on his way.

I did ask him to refund my money for the 3 oz of diesel he poured on the ground but he didnt thik that was funny.

I have a good friend who owns a grading business and has an aux tank in the bed.
I wont give all his secrets away except I'll say he has been dipped something like 12 times and never ticketed but hasnt bought a gallon of taxed fuel in about 4 years.

Locking cap. Tell the guy it isn't your truck and you don't have the key to the cap.

I've thought about this as well. Or just leave the real filler neck somewhere else, keep old filler neck attached with a plug at the bottom and pour a gallon of taxed diesel in it...
From what I understand, untaxed diesel will still show up long after the last time you've used it and they can and will go as far as pulling a fuel filter to check...

Atf will get you hit for un taxed unless you can prove beyond a reasonable doubt and explain it to the officer in a way he will understand

The atf depends largely on the officer I assume. We've had a few trucks pulled, even a few Mercedes',none of which were running 100% road taxed diesel. The powerstroke had a 50/50 mixture of taxed diesel and burnt motor oil/used atf. The fuel took on a black color with a red tint. When he was pulled, my dad explained his fuel to the officer, who then in turn said he would send it in for testing for dye, and sent my dad on his way. Had 3 different Benz's pulled, all belonging to family and friends, all with a mixture of wvo and diesel, no issues at all there.

We never heard anything back about the diesel/oil/atf fuel, so it is assumed fine.

State law allows you to produce up to 300gal (iirc) of biofuel tax free per year. A local man went through the process to pay taxes on his 300+, was told he would be sent forms and information, which never showed up. You'd figure that they would make easy to voluntarily pay taxes. It operates on the honor system, besides, who know how much fuel youre producing anyhow?

What about any of the guys that run propane on their rigs? Do you have to go to a certain place to get taxed propane? Or is there somewhere that will do it without tax. I thought about doing propane on my old 22r, but couldn't really find anywhere to get it cheaper than what regular fuel was.

That right there is an EPA violation:eek: , let alone a hazmat incident........how many 3oz samples is he dumping on the ground daily/monthly/yearly ?

They'll damn sure stop and detain you if you're leaking fuel. I know they won't let you leave a scale if you're leaking fuel, even if it's just the equipment on your trailer leaking ( had this happen to a customer few months ago, had poked a hole is fuel tank on his skid steer )

Well you know everyone who drives a diesel truck puts additives in their tank. I know a guy that runs some trans fluid in with his diesel fuel instead of buying the high dollar additives. But wouldn't that give it enough of the red tent to have him charged for running tractor diesel in his truck if he was caught?

2 stroke motor oil works WAY better than ATF as an additive and lubricant. It's also made to burn and has no discernible coloring tint, whereas ATF is/does not. You really only need it in a mechanically injected diesel since pumps like the VE use fuel as lubricant. However, I'd run it in any diesel truck I owned along with some Diesel Kleen. Just my 2 cents.

This, tranny fluid is not designed to burn & will leave ash in the cylinders possibly causing rings freeze. 2 stroke oil is designed to burn & has better lubrication qualities & you use less. If you're looking for a fuel extender, WVO is your answer.. .02

So it's not just "not good"....it's actually straight up bad? That was what I always heard the "old guys" swear by in old diesel dump trucks and such. Maybe that's why they always had problems with them :D

I think the older tranny fluids were better to burn than the new stuff. I know a guy that works at a for dealership as a mechanic. He is telling me that he has seen it a few times from running burnt motor oil & old tranny fluid. However, they may have been running straight. May not be an issue if it's a blend with diesel fuel.

I have been running WVO for nearly 10 years now, I have never even had a clogged filter yet in my 7.3. Last year he told me he had a 7.3 come in running straight WVO & it ruined the engine scoring the cylinder walls. Maybe they were doing it wrong..

ha an older guy i know has what sounds like a similar set up. a moderate amount of plumbing and he was in business.

I ran filtered, used atf in my 7.3 for quite a while, being in the transmission business, I had an unlimited supply. Ran like a champ and the pump loved it, plus it was way quieter than on fuel. I have heard the Ash comment more than once, but I was on the interstate most of the time at high rpm's. If you idle a lot, it may be a issue for you.

I have a friend who just blew his second Ford 6.4 in his 08. He's dropped 30K in motors alone now including the 5.9 Cummins going into it now. He said he can't understand why they are blowing as he always puts transmission fluid in with the diesel. Take a hint buddy.

Thanks for the hint, Buddy! You did notice I said 7.3 right? Lots of difference between a 99 era 7.3 and a 2008 6.4. (Not that a 6.4 needs any help being a piece of crap). I'm not sure if all that diesel knowledge you have garnered from your friend owning one, has filtered down through you superior intelligence yet... But just in case it hasn't let me make it simple for your punk ass... When you finish paying off your first set of Autozone wrenches, come show me what you know about engines. I am in dire need of superior technicians, like yourself at my shop.

I think you just got the "Take it too personal" award :p
