got some questions

first got a 90 xj when i stop at a stop sign it heats up a little. i got a 00 rad to go in it thank its worth the work??
second got some advice on the alt up grades but has any body else done a swap??

Do you have a fan shroud on it? While driving, air is forced thru the radiator. At a stop, only the fan is pulling air, but loses efficiency if there is no fan shroud.

Does yours have AC? If so you can wire the electric fan to turn on when it gets hot regardless of if AC is on.

Make sure you clutch fan is working properly,

X2 on the shroud and fan clutch. I'd start there for sure! A general cooling tune up would be good if you haven't done one recently also. My experience has been that the mechanical fans in the XJs seem to be problematic.

thinks i was going to check the on the electric fan to but its raining all the shrouds are on new water pump about 15k ago and clutch fan works.
going to look into the electrical source and go from there

make sure there isnt a exhaust leak/manifold crack under the hood... I had one that would heat up and cut off when stopped because of hot exhaust in the engine compartment...
