So we have a family friend that was trying get rid of his mower. So it is a 1970 International Harvester Cub Cadet 1200 50in cut 1200. Paid $45 and it runs like a sowing machine. It needs some cleaning up from sitting but for what we paid it is a pretty awesome lawn mower that I am pretty sure will out last me lol. I thought it was pretty cool and a good deal so I thought I would share. No more push mowing for me :D

That's an awesome find. We had neighbors when I was a kid that had one about that age. Similar kind of thing... somebody else didn't want it anymore, so they got it cheap/free. Meanwhile, we used up and replaced a few cheapo MTD type mowers that were purchased new.

I'm not a big fan of the quietlines and prefer to work and operate the older narrow frames but the quitlines are solid mowers and are well built.
A similar mower now Adays would be outrageous priced.
There's a big following for the old cubs. Take care of it and it will just keep on going!

www.onlycubcadets.net is a good source for info

I still rock a 30 year old cub. They just don't make them like they used to...

most of the older mowers were built like tanks!!!! my 72 gravely 812 will cut in places the new JD won't even make it thru(and it's an 18 horse engine). great find!!!!!!!!!

I want one of the old Cub Cadet diesel mowers :D

I love my old Simplicity SunStar, its ugly as hell but powerful! I don't mow with it, just push snow, pull the plug aerator and spot trailers. Its a 20horse full hydro with a lever operated locker and split brakes(like farm tractors have). Its a 87 and runs perfect. I might resto it someday. I mow my yard with my Bobcat commercial walk behind.
