Proposed $22.2B state budget clears N.C. House :: WRAL.com
"House and Senate leaders set the $22.225 billion spending limit for the budget weeks ago, and some Democrats criticized that as an arbitrary cap, noting that it leaves $128 million on the bottom line."
"As members of this body, we should focus on efficiency in government, effectiveness of government programs and providing for the needs of our state," said Rep. Darren Jackson, D-Wake. "Agreeing to a number that you're going to spend before even discussing what those needs are, in my opinion, is not responsible governing."
Good on the house and senate though. Probably could have set a lower limit.
No, Mr. Jackson, you don't make a budget and then HOPE to get enough money (taxes) in to cover it....you determine how much money you will make (taxes) and then budget from that. Pretty simple, and every household has to do it. Sometimes you can't have everything you want. Any extra taken in, and you pay off debts, which we have plenty of. Less spending and lower debt is good for all taxpayers.
They already raised taxes on service industries to make up for the tax cuts that got them elected. It's a shame these idiots keep getting elected.
