We run a couple trucks and 10 trailers and just went with the ELD recently. The first company we went with sold us on equipment trackers for the trailers which we want to have. however of the 10 we bought I got 9 installed and quickly learned they work sometimes and not others. Mostly not. Do any of you guys with expensive equipment have any GPS trackers you can recommend?

I have a buddy this works for sunbelt and whatever they use is badass, gps location all the time and speed set points that are live for each road gps picks up on!! I’ll ask him if I see what what they use

Did you ever find anything out? Those trackunit devises look more for equipment.

If you're not careful those fukkers will send you a bill for using their equipment between you calling in the release and them picking it up.

I use fleetmatics gps on all my trucks. It is around $40/month and gives you updates every 15-30 seconds, detailing speed and location. It also tracks pto use, and any abrupt maneuvers. It is great for live tracking.

I’ve also used an asset gps tracker that was around $15 per month, but had to purchase the tracker for about $200. It worked well too, but only updated every 15 minutes or so. I don’t remember the name of that, but I can find it, if needed.

We have ELD's in the trucks but I need something that can help me keep up with the 10 trailers in the fleet.

On the cheap: I've got a TRACKIMO stuck to my track loader and trailers. $125 includes the first year of service. $75/year after. Seems to do perfectly fine. Although battery only lasts about a week if it's not hard wired in. I've had them for a few years. Seem to work as advertised. Send you a text if it starts up (vibrates) and another text if it goes out of a geofence.

But yeah fleetmatics is for the cool kids.
