Looking to get a GPS receiver for my laptop. I've looked at several different ones. I already have Microsoft Streets and Trips 2007 installed. I've looked at the Microsoft and Delorme setups at Best Buy. They seem pretty similar but the Delorme has voice recognition and response. Anybody here got any preferences on which one would be the best to get? Thanks for any input.

I use Delorme everday at work. Streets and Trips has better map detail I think, but Delorme works really well. I'd get lost with out it. And its easy to import data to Delorme for specific locations you want to keep track of. I like Delorme.

i use the streets and trips setup with the microsoft reciever, works well, not perfect, but works well.

I've been a Delorme fan for many years, I think I own four different versions of Street Atlas and two of Topo. I like it a lot, and I can tell you that the newest version of Street Atlas is definitely the best one they've ever had, despite some of what you might read on the internet. I think a lot of the negative reviews of it floating around are from people not trying to use it with a GPS, which I'm not sure why that's a problem, but I feel that it's outstanding with mine. I've been using it in my work van for years interfaced to my old Garmin GPSIII+. One tip, the Earthmate is okay, but it just can't give you the quality GPS coverage you'll get with a GPS and external antenna. It's worth the extra cost IMO. I've been using this thing for so long I couldn't navigate my way out of a paper sack without it now.

IF you think you might ever use it anywhere other than in the vehicle w/ the 'puter, ya might wanna consider a low end hand held. About the same price......and you can use it hiking and such w/ carrying around the laptop.

I use delorme with my laptop and a compaq Ipaq handheld best of both worlds the new bluetooth logger is way nice no cables :) and you can use it to kinda spy on where your kids /other half have been as it logs with out being hooked up.
