Does anyone use a app for gps on trails?
I heard about a app I can put on my phone and use it to gps me around some offroad park.
Does anyone use such or is the map the best way still

Thanks

I always think about using one of the running app's but I always forget.

I just get behind people that know where they are going and I don't have to worry about it.

I've heard good things about Back Country Navigator. This is Android only. I downloaded the free demo about a week ago. Looks promising. The pro version & a map add on looks to be about $25 a year.

CartoTracks on an app called Avenza Maps works pretty well. It just costs you money to download certain parks.

I've used Avenza for backpacking. I assume any of the apps are only as good as the data that is in them. The main place I've used Avenza is Linville Gorge, and the user developed map is awesome, so the app works awesome too.

I have used Maplets for a few years now. Never once gotten lost with it but have not tried any of the other apps. I only wheel Windrock and Harlan currently and it works fool-proof
