Gravel Gear work pants from Northern Tool. Anybody wear them? Feed back on wear and comfort? Price isn't bad.
Need some new work duds. Uniforms cost me to much. Jeans are out.
Polyester blends are out too. I just burn them up.

I’ve tried them and didn’t like the fit personally. I am a picky bitch when it comes to clothes though. I’m a fan of Carhart, Levis, and True Spec.

What kind of work?
Welding, Fab, Mechanic, Machining.........

All in hot sweaty, nasty environments....nothing clean.

All the Duluth stuff has too much spandex in it for my taste....rugged pants aren't meant to be stretchy!

I wear Dickies pants and T-shirts, the pants wear like Iron and the shirts are cheap. The only issue I have is the carpenter pocket on the leg varies in size from set to set....and that is typically where I keep my phone.

100% this.

Also Duluth makes 2 versions of the fire hose pants:
The "flex" with 3% spandex:
Men's DuluthFlex Fire Hose Relaxed Fit 5-Pocket Pants

And the OG with 0 spandex
Men's Fire Hose Relaxed Fit Cargo Work Pants

The original are tough as nails...but they will take the bark off your legs as well.
Kind of like the old Filsen pants? I had a pair from the hardware store I used to work at. Lasted forever until I outgrew them. Comfortable? Hell no. Durable? Hell yes.

I’ve got a pair of the flex fire hose, while they feel somewhat tough, (like soft, broke in canvas but the pants be brand new), they are pretty stretchy. I don’t know how they’ll hold up long term though.

I’m a fan of dickies and red kap. Both will last a long time and can be had pretty cheap. I’d stay away from Walmart dickies though, I feel like the ones I order directly have a little better standards as far as sizing and stuff goes and the material seems a little different to. Both have several different styles and fits to.

And I’ve got a couple pair of the dickies flex fabric or whatever it is and I’ve yet to wear the knees out or anything, and welding splatter and stuff just kinda makes a small hole if anything, I don’t want to say they melt, but it kinda seals itself up and keeps from fraying/ripping.

Same here.
I have Dickie's work pants in black, grey, brown and tan. All have different sized cell pockets
But, they wear great and at $20 a pair, can't beat them.

What about those firehose fabric pants from Duluth?

I've got a couple pair. Aside from running 1-1.5 sizes SMALL (and the reason I have 2 sets)... they don't fit me (you'd better be hung like a squirrel).
The overwhelming majority of my stash are Carhartt's (10% the lighter weight canvas) with a spattering of Dickie's.
Of those, the rear pockets on the Dickie's don't seem to fair as well as the Carhartt's...

I've been wearing the Dickie's pants from Walmart and I've always worn Red Kap short sleeve work shirts. 100% cotton, SC40 in Navy Blue. I'm a creature of habit.

I wear Red Kap and Dickies pants, I like the newer double knee styles because I'm often kneeling to work on something, but I'm not super rough on anything but the knees. The Red Kap auto tech pants are nice, but the legs are a little straight/wide for my tastes (I have about 5 pairs in multiple colors, so it's a minor gripe). The two different types of Dickies double knee with the stretch are my current favorites (there's a lighter and a heavier fabric), and whichever ones I have are cut more like a standard modern jean (not a skinny jean).

The Carhartt pants I've had tend to disintegrate after washing a bunch of times, and fade a lot, but I don't know which ones those are (cotton canvas of some type). That's the nice thing about whatever the Red Kaps are made of, they're still the same shade of black as the day I got them.

I have a pair of the Gravel Gear pants. They seem to be tough and hold up as good as Carhartt. But they are stiff as a board. I prefer the Carhartt for comfort, but the Gravel Gear was cheaper and does fine.

I notice this with the Carhartt pants as well. Towards the end they just tear because they were thin

The Dickies brand I have worn out where from the Wal-Mart. They where a poly blend. Much like my paid uniform pants.....but do,tsome reason the knees and just about pocket height they wore through or the grinder killed them in short order.
I've since tried to utilize a leather apron to protect them some.

I bought some Fire Rated stuff from a company. As soon as they got comfy the fire retardant chemical was all but washed out....then they showed excellerated wear. For y
What I do it's just isn't economical to buy 50 and 50 plus dollar pants.

For the comfort and heat I want 100 percent cotton too.

The really light weight Carhartts are supper comfortable cut right but deteriorate for me to quickly.

Agreed... must be the SE Asian cotton strains?
I had a couple pairs of shorts that flat out disintegrated, BUT the back pockets were still virgin. Sacrificed them as "parts" (patch holes) to keep the rest of the fleet running...

I found all the Carhartt pants I bought seemed to fade and fray REALLY quickly, and if the pants fit properly, I couldn't put a hand in any of the pockets, it was like the pockets were stitched too small, or too close to the belt line. I don't like overly baggy pants, and I do like pockets....so Carhartts were out.

What is this Red Kap you all speak of? Is this the Cabellas brand? I think I looked at those, but everything was made in China, so I just keep buying Dickies....all of my pants have a Made in Mexico tag in them, and I prefer to keep employment up in Mexico.

I think that's the Performance Shop Pant; it's the one I was talking about above that I have 5 pairs of. Very comfortable, but a little boxy in the leg. Very colorfast as well. No stretch in the fabric, but the waist has some elastic in it. I wear it with a belt because I'm between sizes, so I don't usually notice the elastic, and I have a buckle so it's not anti-scratch any more.

I get all my stuff through the workwear distributors, they often have good sales and cheap USPS shipping. Some of the places hem at time of order, which I find funny for some reason. You buy pants, they take pants off the shelf and hem them to your length, and ship them out. It's like blue collar tailoring.

I have a couple of pair of C.E. Schmidt pants from TSC that I like as well as my Dickies. Same price point and I like the cut a little better. They are actually more comfy to me and are true to size. I have a friend that installs and repairs chicken farm equiplment and thats all he wears and swears by them.
